“SPAMALOT” – NATIONAL TOUR
Phoenix Entertainment is casting for the 2010/2001 non union National Tour of Monty Python’s SPAMALOT. John DiPrez & Eric Idle, music & lyrics; Eric Idle, book; Mark Minnick, casting.
Seeking- KING ARTHUR: the King of England who is on a quest to find the Holy Grail, strong male actor with a good singing voice and an easy comedic manner; SIR ROBIN: a knight who is actually called “Sir Robin the Brave” and is anything but, well versed on musical theatre, plays various smaller roles such as Guard 1 and Brother Maynard, a long winded monk; SIR LANCELOT: Lancelot is a strong and fearless Knight who comes to realization, plays other roles such as: French Taunter - an over the top, French soldier who revels in taunting, Tim the Enchanter and The Knight of Ni, needs an actor who excels in character voices and accents; PATSY: an unappreciated, servant “sidekick” of sorts to King Arthur, seeking approval and appreciation, plays various small roles including the Mayor, an easy comedian with good vocals and good movement/tap ability; SIR DENNIS GALAHAD: politically active peasant who after being knighted becomes dashingly handsome, also plays the roles of The Black Knight: an invincible knight who doesn’t stop, even after losing his limbs and Prince Herbert’s Father, strong comedic actor with strong vocals; SIR BEDEVERE: a strangely flatulent knight, also plays Dennis’s mother- a shrill peasant and Concorde – Lancelot’s “Patsy”; THE LADY OF THE LAKE: the productions leading lady, a beautiful diva with a strong voice, versatile in both style and range: CHARACTER ACTOR MALE; a very strong character actor and mover with a tenor voice, plays an assortment of roles such as The Historian who is the narrator of the piece, Not Dead Fred – a sickly man who people assume is dead but alas…he is not and Prince Herbert – a flamboyant prince who yearns for love and loves to sing; ENSEMBLE MEN – all types to play small character roles in the production and cover principal roles; ENSEMBLE WOMEN – all must be strong dancers who sing and should attend the dance call first, instead of this call. FEMALE DANCERS WHO SING: attractive, leggy, strong dancers who are also very strong singers for ensemble roles and principal understudy positions; MALE DANCERS WHO SING: all ages and types, very strong dancers who are also strong singer/actors for ensemble roles. Every ensemble man will understudy a principal role in the production.
Note: All ethnicities are encouraged to attend. All ensemble members must be able to sing and move/dance very well.
Open auditions will be held on Monday, March 1st 2010 at 10am sharp at Chelsea Studios, 151 W. 26th Street, between 6th and 7th Av. NYC. Dance auditions will be held on Tuesday, March 2nd 2010 at Chelsea Studios as well. Male dance call starts at 10am sharp. Female dance call starts at 2:30pm. Sign in starts at 9am for open call day and 9am and 1pm for dance call day. Please sign in, look at the list for a return audition time and return 15 minutes before your call time. Looking for fresh, energetic performers with personality, a great sense of humor, strong singing voices and strong dance/movement ability. Bring picture/resume stapled together and sheet music with your best 16 bars, in the correct key. Choose a vocal that also shows your sense of humor and personality. Competitive compensation package includes salary, per diem, travel and housing. Year long contracts begin August 2010. Performers must be over 18 years of age.
